Tadepalli: YSRCP leader Pothina Venkata Mahesh slammed Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for allegedly misusing religion for political purposes, questioning his understanding of Sanatana Dharma. Speaking at the YSRCP’s central office, Mahesh accused the TDP-led coalition of politicizing the sacred Tirumala laddu issue and exploiting religious sentiments.
Mahesh criticized Pawan’s ongoing penance fast, stating that instead of resolving issues, it was stirring unnecessary controversy. He questioned Pawan’s participation in temple purification rituals and his comments on Hindu traditions, implying that Kalyan lacked genuine understanding of the religion.
Mahesh also pointed out contradictions in the statements made by TTD EO, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, and Minister Lokesh regarding the ghee used in Tirumala laddus. He questioned whether Pawan’s penance was truly religious or merely a distraction from political issues.
Furthermore, Mahesh accused Pawan of using religion to incite communal tensions and raised doubts about his sincerity. He highlighted that Pawan, who had previously claimed to sacrifice for Prajarajyam and later for Chandrababu Naidu, was now mixing politics with religion.
Mahesh mocked Pawan for continuing to shoot his movie Harihara Veeramallu while supposedly on a religious fast, questioning the Deputy CM’s commitment to his penance.
