Rajamahendravaram: Preparations for the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu have begun, with the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation proposing a massive Rs. 904 crore project aimed at accommodating an expected 8 crore devotees. The first planning meeting, held Tuesday, was attended by Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, MP Daggubati Purandeshwari, and local MLAs.
Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg outlined the three-phase development plan, highlighting the construction of 17 new ghats and the widening of the Godavari Bund Road with an allocation of Rs. 400 crores. Additional facilities include 74 parking areas spread across 800 acres to manage the large influx of visitors.
MP Purandeshwari, also BJP’s state president, emphasized the need for central support and suggested engaging with abbots to ensure smooth facilitation of holy baths along the Godavari. Tourism Minister Durgesh noted that all works will be permanent, using a district-wide approach to ensure lasting infrastructure.
The meeting, attended by MLAs Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhury, Battula Balaramakrishnudu, and Muppidi Venkateswara Rao, marks a significant step toward delivering a grand and well-organized Pushkaralu event in 2027.
