Amaravati: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has achieved a historic milestone by providing insurance coverage for its one crore party activists. On Thursday, TDP National General Secretary and Education Minister, Nara Lokesh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United India Insurance and Pragmatic Insurance Broking Services.
Under the agreement, the TDP paid a ₹42 crore premium for the first year, ensuring ₹5 lakh accidental insurance for each party activist from January 1 to December 31, 2025. This initiative makes the TDP the first political party in India to offer such extensive insurance coverage to its cadre.
Nara Lokesh has spearheaded several welfare measures for party activists. Since taking charge, the party has spent ₹138 crore on cadre welfare. A dedicated legal wing addresses court cases filed against activists during the previous YSRCP government, while a central office cell provides immediate assistance in case of accidents.
Additionally, the NTR Trust has established residential schools in Hyderabad and Challapalli, offering free education to children of deceased party members. TDP activists across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have expressed gratitude for Lokesh’s efforts, praising his commitment to their welfare as akin to caring for family members.
