Hyderabad,: Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy introduced the Bhubharati Bill in the Assembly on Wednesday, aiming to replace the controversial Dharani Portal and the RVR 2020 Act. The Minister criticized the Dharani Portal, stating it caused numerous land disputes and hardships for the people.
He accused the previous government of turning public lands into private properties through the portal, creating legal battles and suicides. “The Dharani Portal, brought in with high promises, turned out to be a nightmare, leading to millions of unresolved issues,” he said. The Minister added that alienated government lands recorded before 2014 will be reclaimed and considered for distribution to the poor.
The Bhubharati Bill incorporates suggestions from Finance Minister Harish Rao, former MP Vinod Kumar, and public feedback. “This is the first time public suggestions have been included in a draft law,” he noted. The bill focuses on resolving land disputes, ensuring land security, and rectifying errors caused by Dharani.
Highlighting past failures, the Minister blamed the previous administration for abolishing the VRO system and weakening the revenue framework. The new law, he said, will restore accountability and protect landowners from exploitation.
