Khanapur: In a tragic incident in Nirmal district, a retired child caretaker lost her life after being bitten by a cobra. Alugula Gangavva, a 65-year-old resident of Gosampalle village in Khanapur mandal, had been performing daily puja for years, despite knowing about the poisonous cobra in her house’s anthill.
Gangavva, who retired from her job at an Anganwadi center on July 1, was washing soil in her house on Tuesday morning when the cobra emerged from its den and bit her multiple times. Despite seeking medical help in Lingapur, she was refused treatment. Gangavva passed away while being transported to Khanapur Government Hospital.
The local police have registered a case based on a complaint from her daughter, Padma. Gangavva is survived by her son, Rajalingu, and her daughter. The community is in shock over this tragic loss.
