Tadepalli: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has criticized Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for exploiting the Scheduled Caste (SC) categorisation issue for political gains while neglecting the welfare of SC sub-castes during his tenure.
Addressing the media on Monday, former Minister Adimulapu Suresh and ex-SC Corporation chairman Kommuri Kanaka Rao accused Chandrababu of lacking sincerity on the categorisation matter. They alleged that he has been using SC leader Krishna Madiga as a political pawn to target Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, despite Jagan’s inclusive governance between 2019-24.
Highlighting Chandrababu’s record, they stated that although he was an alliance partner with the central government in the past, including in 1997, he failed to advocate for legislation benefiting SC sub-castes. Instead, he allowed the issue to linger for decades to derive political mileage.
The leaders emphasized that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has given significant portfolios such as Home and Education to SC leaders, ensuring equality and empowerment through Direct Benefit Transfers and fee reimbursements.
They urged Chandrababu to demonstrate genuine commitment by pushing for legislation to extend SC categorisation to state cadre roles, as the current political environment offers him an opportunity to act decisively.
