In a shocking incident, Rekha, a bride to be and a resident of Patna, allegedly lost her arm due to the negligence of Mahaveer Arogya Sansthan hospital, in Patna, Bihar.
On the 11th of July, Ms. Rekha visited the Mahaveer Arogya Sansthan hospital for her ear operation, but lost an arm. Getting into the details, Rekha, whose wedding was due in November 2022, was given an injection in the vein, which resulted in serious damage to her arm. However, after a complaint of the green arm, the hospital authority refused to care. Rekha complained about the discomfort and pain in the hand immediately after, but the doctors and nurses on duty at that time did not pay any attention and instead threatened to remove her from the hospital. The serious carelessness in the treatment resulted in Rekha’s arm amputation to save her life.
The mistake was said to be on the side of the hospital staff, a nurse. Not only Rekha lost her arm, but due to the tragic incident, Rekha’s wedding was also called off.
Furthermore, Rupam, the advocate of Rekha said to take the matter to the court, after the concerned police station (Kankarbagh) refused to register a first information report (FIR) against the hospital authority. Mr. Rupam said, “After taking this matter to court, Rekha’s family is facing a lot of pressure from the hospital management to settle the matter outside court. We demand a government job for Rekha. This is an incident of medical negligence. When the family members raised an alarm after the colour change, the doctors did not visit. Due to medical negligence, the patient’s life was endangered. Her hand amputation saved her life. For this, action should be taken against the culprits and the patient should get proper compensation, and I am sure that she will definitely win in the court.”
The matter is likely to be in court soon.
