In China’s Chongqing Airport, a Tibet Airlines plane caught fire on the morning of the 12th of May, Thursday. The incident happened around 8:00 A.M., when the plane was veering off the runway while taking off.
The flight, carrying 113 passengers and nine crew, was headed from the southwestern city of Chongqing to Tibet’s Nyingchi when “abnormalities” were noticed and take-off was suspended, causing the jet to overrun the runway, said the company in a statement. Approximately 25 passengers were left injured and are undergoing treatment at a hospital in China.
Furthermore, Tibet Airlines said, “All passengers and crew have been safely evacuated.” In addition, “The injured passengers were all only lightly injured, and have been sent to hospital for treatment.”
Getting into the details, Flight TV9833 deviated from the runway during take-off and “the left side of the aircraft’s nose caught fire.” Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport said in a separate statement.
Besides 25 seriously injured people, about 40 passengers with minor injuries were also sent to hospital for treatment.
