Lucky’s Biryani House in Hyderabad, was fined a hefty fine of Rs 55,000 for charing extra for a water bottle.
On the 5th of March, Friday, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission imposed a fine on as they charged Rs 5.50 extra for packaged water bottles for customers. The commission also asked the Lucky’s Biryani to pay Rs. 5.50 back along with an interest of 10% interest worth Rs. 5,000 to the customer, who had been charged Rs. 5.50 extra on the water bottle.
Getting into the details, a student of Osmania University (OU), Chilukuri Vamshi, had approached the Commission complaining that he was charged with an extra amount of Rs 5.50 against the MRP (Maximum Retail Price) on a packaged water bottle. The DCSRC looked into the matter and along with the records and evidence including bills and ordered to pay the amount and also imposed the fine.
The Lucky’s Biryani had to pay the imposed fine and the penalty to the consumer, Chilukuri Vamshi and the District Consumer court within the next 45 days.
