Mr. Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, moved the Supreme Court (SC,) against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrest and probe.
On the 28th of February, Tuesday, Mr. Abhishek Singhvi, the lawyer of Manish Sisodia, on his behalf, filed the plea. In the petition, Mr. Manish Sisodia’s lawyer requested for an urgent hearing into the matter.
It is to be noted, the petition in the Apex Court was filed hours after the special CBI Court remanded Mr. Sisodia to the CBI, till the 4th of March. After the controversial arrest of Mr. Manish Sisodia, in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam, the CBI produced him before Justice M.K. Nagpal of the CBI Court, where he was sent to judicial custody till the 4th of March, Saturday.
Challenging the same, Mr. Manish Sisodia filed a plea and demanded bail. When asked why Mr. Manish Sisodia directly approached the Top Court and not the Delhi High Court, his lawyer cited an example.
Mr. Abhishek Singhvi cited the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Vinod Dua case as the reason why Mr Sisodia has approached the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) Mr. D.Y. Chandrachud would hear the matter on the 28th of February, at 3:50 P.M.
