Prime Minister Narendra Modi said 5G services have now reached every district in India, highlighting the rapid expansion of the country’s digital network.
Speaking at the 10th India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 in New Delhi on Thursday, Modi said India now has more than 5.5 lakh 5G base stations supporting the network.
He also said mobile internet speeds have increased 10 times compared with 2022.
Modi recalled that 5G was launched in India from the IMC platform in 2022. In 2023, he had spoken about moving from the initial 5G rollout towards wider reach across the country.
The Prime Minister linked the growth of 5G with India’s wider digital expansion. He said faster connectivity is helping support new uses of technology across the country.
The figures highlight how quickly India’s telecom network has expanded since the launch of 5G.
Modi also stressed the importance of building stronger digital infrastructure as India prepares for the next phase of technological growth.
