Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a global framework to tackle cyber fraud and deepfakes, saying digital threats are now crossing national borders.
Speaking at the 10th India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 in New Delhi on Thursday, Modi said cyber fraud can involve people from different countries. He said this makes global cooperation important.
Modi urged governments, technology companies, telecom operators and financial institutions to work together to prevent digital fraud before it reaches users.
He also described deepfakes as a major challenge. Deepfakes are fake videos, images or audio created to look real.
The Prime Minister said people must have trust in digital services. He stressed that users should feel confident that their personal data and money are safe.
Modi also urged the GSMA and telecom operators worldwide to help create a global system to stop digital fraud.
He said India is ready to share its experience in tackling cyber fraud with other countries.
