Vice, an American Media company, is ready to launch a biographical film about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The film is titled An Insignificant Man.

An Insignificant Man is directed by Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla who define it as a nonfictional political thriller. The film will focus on Kejriwal’s rise from an activist to a politician.

Executive Producer of Vice Documentary Films, Jason Mojica said, “I first saw An Insignificant Man at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016, and I came away thinking it was the best documentary about street level politics since Marshall Curry’s Street Fight.”

The film was held up for release thanks to the then Central Board of Film Certification head Pahlaj Nihalani. He had asked the filmmakers to get a no objection letter from Prime Minister Modi and Kejriwal himself to get the movie to release.

Finally, after a year the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal cleared the film for release.

Mojica further added, “We at Vice closely followed the filmmakers and the censorship battle over the film over the past few months. Vice will always champions independent filmmakers fighting for freedom of expression.”

He explained why this film is a must watch, “We’re bringing An Insignificant Man to our audience around the world because we think it’s a highly relevant film for anyone who sees problems in their own political systems and has the impulse to get personally involved in trying to change things.”

The film will be released in 22 theatres across the country as well as television and digitally.

Memesys Lab is the studio behind the film, Anand Gandhi from the studio company said, “For the first time ever in the history of Indian cinema, a film will show exactly what goes on behind closed doors of a political party. Vice has led the content market when it comes to serious non fiction work.”

The date of release has been set on the 17th of November.
