After the resignation of Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tirath Singh Rawat has been elected as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
On the 9th of March, the BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat tendered his resignation as the CM of Uttarakhand. Trivendra Singh Rawat’s resignation came after the BJP General Secretary in charge of Uttarakhand Dushyant Kumar Gautam and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, submitted a report to the BJP Central Unit. In the report, they objected to the leadership style of Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat. Acting upon the report, the BJP unit asked Mr. Singh to step down as the CM, paving way for other leaders to become the CM of Uttarakhand.
Trivendra Singh Rawat tendered his resignation after meeting the Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya.
A day after, on the 10th of March, the BJP unit in Uttarakhand conducted a Legislative meeting. During the meeting, Tirath Singh Rawat was announced as the next CM.
Senior BJP leaders Raman Singh and Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh ‘Nishank’ Pokhriyal, flew down to Dehradun for the meeting. Following the party norms, former CM Trivendra singh Rawat proposed the name of Tirath Singh Rawat for the post of CM and it was supported by all the party Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of the Parliament (MPs,) present during the meeting.
After being elected as CM of Uttarakhand, Tirath Singh Rawat expressed his happiness and said, “I am grateful to the Prime Minister and (the) BJP for giving me this opportunity. I will make my best effort to live up to their expectations. I will continue the positive works done by Trivendra Singh Rawat in the last four years.”
The newly elected CM of Uttarakhand, Tirath Singh Rawat would take oath of the office at 4:00 P.M., on the 10th of March.
