The Centre has ordered a probe to look into the situation and has to be filed by K.K. Sharma by Wednesday. While the probe is underway, the BSF alleged that the jawan whose video went viral, Tej Bahadur Yadav has a past history of alcoholism and also creating trouble.

A senior official has said that “It’s a very touchy issue and highly sensitive to the welfare of troops. Rajnathji today instructed the DG BSF to submit the inquiry report by Wednesday… Strong action will be taken against those involved in the pilferage of rations meant for soldiers if the allegations are true.”

After the video was posted by the jawan, a huge uproar ensued over the social media over the living conditions of the jawans. The jawan Tej also alleged that because of the video he has been transferred and again to a plumber’s job. After the incident, new reports have emerged from near the BSF camps in Jammu and Kashmir, where civilians claimed that the officers sell provisions meant for BSF jawans at half their actual price.

Another report by the Economic Times quotes a BSF jawan from the BSF headquarters in Srinagar, “They sell food items like dal and vegetables to civilians outside the camp at cheaper rates and leave us bereft of the facilities. They even deny us our daily use items and sell the same to their agents outside the camps.” Apart from civilians, also another civil contractor told the daily, that the officers who are in charge of provisions also sell Petrol at half the price.

The situation is all set to be addressed by the Centre after a report is submitted by the BSF chief on Wednesday.
