One Burnt Parantha and a Glass of Tea – Says BSF Jawan

Soldiers of our country are the real heroes who protect the border 24/7 without complaining. While you and I grumble about the amount of pressure we face on a daily basis, one has to accept the fact that experiences that a soldier goes through at the border is beyond comparison. The terror of being killed by heavy gunnery and weapons is something they have accepted and are still standing there protecting our nation. Soldiers of the army have a tough life and perform strict duties. You could say that they are trained for the role– but the risks sometimes far outweigh their rewards. For instance, do you know the quality of food they get to consume on a daily basis at the border?

Recently a video of soldier went viral on the social media. Border Security Force Tej Bahadur Yadav said looking straight into the camera, “This is breakfast – one burnt parantha and a glass of tea…no butter, no jam, no pickle. Can a jawan do his duty with this kind of food? Share this video as much as possible and take our message to the government. Jai Hind!

Tej Bahadur also took a video of the food being cooked in semi-darkness and explained the type of food made for the survival of the soldiers at extreme temperatures.  “Dal with only haldi (turmeric) and salt. No onion, no garlic, no seasoning…not even cumin,” said the soldier while filming the video.

In another video, Tej expressed his grief saying, “This is the quality of the food we get… we are on duty for 11 hours in the snow and at times we have to stand throughout… how can a jawan do his duty?” Bahadur claimed that the soldiers often go to bed on an empty stomach!

The soldier added saying, “The government’s store is full but everything is sold. I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order an investigation.” The message has been escalated to the Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the matter is being looked upon. Tej Bahadur has been shifted from the line of control to the headquarters of his battalion in Poonch.

The Soldiers of the Indian army are a part of the toughest and the strongest fighting forces. They work for the protection of our country and nothing should go wrong when it comes to their well being. I hope that the government escalates the issue and no complaint from the soldier ever comes in the future.
