Central Government To Withdraw 100 Paramilitary Companies In Jammu and Kashmir Territory

The Central Government on the 19th of August, decided to withdraw approximately 100 paramilitary forces in Jammu and Kashmir territory.

The decision was taken by the Home Ministry of India after reviewing the current security situation in the region. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reviewed the deployment of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the union territory.

According to the MHA order, a total of 40 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 20 each of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) include the 100 paramilitary forces which would be moved.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notice regarding the same.

All the 100 CAPF companies were directed to go back to their base locations in India. They would go back from where they were mobilised to the UT after the abrogation of Article 370, in August last year.

With the latest withdrawal of security personnel, the CRPF will have a strength of about 60 battalions (about 1,000 personnel in each battalion) in the Kashmir Valley apart from very few units of other CAPF staff.

The CAPF forces would be moved out within a week, deadline set by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Stay tuned for further updates.
