On Saturday, ahead of RK Nagar by polls, the Election Commission ordered the transfer of Chennai Police Commissioner S. George. This decision came after the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) filed a petition for the Police Commissioner’s transfer to guarantee free and fair elections in the RK Nagar Assembly constituency polls.
On March 17, T.K.S. Elangovan, RS,. Bharathi, and Tiruchi Siva had formed a delegation on behalf of the DMK and filed the petition with the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the change of the Police Commissioner.
The Additional Director General of Police in CB-CID, Karan Sinha has been appointed as the new commissioner of the Chennai city. The MPs of DMK filed in the petition that S. George, the former Police Commissioner could influence assembly elections and mold it in favor of the ruling AIADMK.
