Thousands of people have come across the streets of Rameshwaram on Thursday morning as the “People’s President” is on his last parade towards Pei Karambu, place where Dr Kalam was born. Around 11 a.m. Dr Kalam will be buried with full state honors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the funeral. PM left from New Delhi this morning.Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will also attend the funeral of former President. Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar and Parliamentary Affairs minister M Venkaiah Naidu are already in Rameswaram, where Dr Kalam’s body was taken on Wednesday.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa sent a word that she will not be attending the funeral due to ill health. The seven ministers of Tamil Nadu will stand on behalf of her, said the state government.
The “Missile Man” passed away on Monday in Shillong after a massive cardiac arrest.
