The year 2016 has been quite an eventful year for India. From terrorist attacks to Demonetization, we didn’t really have the best year of our life. But apart from some bad things, let me take you through the good things that happened in India this year.
While most Indians have been blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decision on Demonetization, Twitter called it the “most influential moment of the year.” Modi’s decision to replace over 86 per cent of the currency was a commendable move that no prime minister has ever taken in history.
India experienced both good and bad events which made people talk and share their views on social media platforms.Twitter, Facebook, YouTube then ranked the most talked about events, people, and hashtags of 2016. #Rio2016 became top hashtag of the year of social networking sites. PV. Sindhu won Silver and Wrestler Sakshi Malik won Bronze. Their achievement made Indians very proud.
The Sportswomen of India – Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal were awarded the Padma Bhushan Award and Deepika Kumari was selected for the Padma Shri. The Indian Cricket Team stood number one in Twenty 20 international ranking by winning the final match by 7 wickets. Earlier, India was positioned at number 8 and jumped to number 1 in ICC T20 after winning the match.
The Indian Space Research Organisation launched several satellites this year including weather satellite INSAT- 3DR, communication satellite, navigation satellite IRNSS- 1E and launched eight satellites into two different orbits in a single flight.
Also, the first time in last 150 years Indian economy surpassed that of the United Kingdom. It was India’s rapid economic development that led to the major shift.
India has done well this year. So cheer up! India has been doing great and will do better in the coming years.
