Chennai: The search operation for the missing Indian Air Force plane An-32 entered fourth day on Monday. An intensive search is underway to find the aircraft, which went missing on Friday (July 22) with 29 people on board. Till now, no debris or survivors have been located.
Coast Guard Commander (East) Inspector General Rajan Bargotra said, “As of now no debris or survivors have been found… 13 Naval vessels, 2 Coast Guard ships besides assets from Andaman and Nicobar islands are engaged in the operations.”
The official added, “We have not been able to locate debris or survivor in the seas.”
He further said, “We are picking up some items but they don’t belong to the aircraft. Presently the search is continuous.”
The plane went missing on July 22 after taking off from Tambaram airbase. It went off radar 16 minutes after the take off. The incident took place when the aircraft was on its way to Port Blair.
