At least 19 people were killed and 20 others were injured on Tuesday in a knife attack outside Tokyo. The incident took place at a facility for the handicapped in the city of Sagamihara. According to police, they received a call from an employee at around 2:30 am saying that something horrible was happening at the facility.
Two hours later, a man surrendered at a police station and said that he left the knife in his car when entered. The police arrested the man on suspicion of attempted murder and trespassing.
Reports stated that the suspect is a former employee at the Tsukui Yamayuri-en facility and he broke into the facility by smashing a window with a hammer. More details are still awaited.
