ICJ Asks India To Make Submission In Kulbhushan Jadhav Case By September 13

The International Court of Justice based in the Hauge, on Friday directed the Indian Government to make its submission in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case on or before September 13. At the same time, the court also directed Pakistan to complete their submission by December 13.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement the hearing of the case on May 18 the 10 member bench directed Pakistan to put a stay on Jadhav’s execution. Jadhav is a former Indian Navy officer, who was sentenced to death by a Pakistani Army court. The court said that he was punished for “involvement in espionage and terrorist activities in Pakistan.”

India sought consular access to Jadhav 16 times, which Pakistan denied. It was then India moved to the ICJ against the death sentence. India described these charges as “concocted” and his trial as “farcical.”
