On Thursday, the Indian National Anthem was launched with disabled children singing and using sign language in the video. The Human Resource Development Ministry (HRD) released the video that also featured Amitabh Bachchan.

The video was directed by veteran film maker Govind Nihalani. The Ministry released a statement that read, “The film is conceptualized by Satish Kapoor, Founder Director, We Care Film Festival. We Care Film Festival produced the film under the aegis of Brotherhood, an NGO. It is directed by Govind Nihalani and the music is scored by (the) late Aadesh Shrivastava.”

The video was shot with the backdrop of the Red Fort, with Amitabh right in the center surrounded by a few disabled and partially disabled children.

The Minister of State for HRD, Mahendar Nath Pandey praised Modi by saying, “Modi has a vision that India’s development will be complete when our divyangjan become an integral part of it and come forward in the nation building.”

The Ministry has taken a stand for people with disabilities and hopes that further progress will allow people with disabilities to “earn a livelihood and live an independent life like any other citizen.”

The government has also increased the reservation for government vacancies from 3% to 4% for people with benchmark disabilities.
