The general auction for the Indian Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held today from 10 A.M., in Bengaluru. On the 27th and 28th of January 578 players including 360 Indian players will be auctioned for the 2018 IPL season.

IPL has decided to go back to having eight teams. This year Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will return and the Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Super Giant will not be a part of this years IPL.

On Saturday, 170 players will be auctioned and the auction will begin with the 16 highly skilled players in two sets of eight each. After this, the capped and uncapped players will be up for auction. A capped player are those who have played international cricket. On Sunday, the remaining 408 players will be ready for bidding.

Every team is allowed to retain only 5 players with the player retention and Right to Match options. A team is allowed to have only 8 overseas players and the squad size can be with 25 players.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell
