On the 9th of October, India reported 70,495 new Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases.

With the new cases, India crossed the mark of 68.35 lakhs or 6.8 million cases.

While India reported 70,000 plus new cases, deaths due to COVID-19 infection stood at 964

In addition, nearly 80,315 people recovered from the deadly infection.

According to sources, India’s recoveries are 6.3 times more than active cases of coronavirus. 

The updates about the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 was confirmed by the Health Ministry of India and the data regarding the same has been updated on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

The Health Ministry on the morning of the 9th of October took to Twitter and said, “India’s COVID recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise – from 50,000 in May to over 57 lakh in October.  A high level of more than 75,000 recoveries reported every day. Recoveries are 6.3 times the active cases (currently only 13.4 per cent of total cases.)” 

The top five states with the highest number of the Novel Coronavirus are Maharashtra (14,93,884,) Andhra Pradesh (7,39,719,) Karnataka (6,79,356,) Tamil Nadu (6,40,943) and Uttar Pradesh (4,27, 459.) 

On the other hand, excluding the aforementioned states, six states and one union territory have a less than 5% positivity rate. 

The national cumulative positivity rate declined over the last 11 days to 8.2%.

Till the 9th of October, India has 69,06,152 positive cases, 59,06,069 recovered/discharged cases and 1,06,490 deceased.
