The Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with the security forces arrested a hybrid terrorist, associated with the terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT.) Hybrid terrorists often known as ‘sleeping cells’ are usually those involved with terrorist outfits and perform tasks given by their commanders before they slip into their usual normal life.
On the evening of the 8th of November, Tuesday, the police were conducting a ‘Naka Check’ (checking of vehicles, at traffic points) at Awantipora region in South Kashmir and arrested the terrorist identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh. After conducting a search, the police also recovered incriminating materials including ammunition from Abid’s possession.
They said, “Police along with security forces during a Naka Check at Ladoo Awantipora arrested a hybrid terrorist linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT and recovered incriminating materials including a Grenade from his possession.”
Associated with the Pakistan based LeT, Abid Ahmad Aziz Sheikh, a resident of Satpokharen is a hybrid terrorist. During preliminary investigation, it came to the fore that Abid Ahmad Sheikh was involved in the transportation of arms and ammunition to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police registered a case and launched a further investigation.
