Om Prakash Rajbhar, the leader of Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP,) said, Rahul Gandhi, the Indian National Congress (INC) leader, is the right fit for the post of the Prime Minister of India.

Om Prakash Rajbhar, a minister of Uttar Pradesh, on the 28th of January, addressed the public in Balia, Uttar Pradesh and said Rahul Gandhi is “fit to be the Prime Minister of the country.” Mr. Rajbhar’s SBSP is a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA,) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

Mr. Rajbhar further said, “I find Rahul Gandhi fit to be Prime Minister. The final word rests with the people and they will decide who will be India’s next Prime Minister.”

Further in his speech, he also criticised Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, for his recent comments about the Ram Mandir case.

Recently, Yogi Adityanath in an interview, claimed, the BJP will settle the Ayodhya Ram Mandir matter if the Supreme Court (SC) fails to do so. Mr. Yogi confidently said, the BJP will resolve the issue in a span of 24 hours.

Mr. Yogi stated, “I want to say that the court should give its verdict soon, and if it is unable to do so, it should hand over the issue to us. We will resolve the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute within 24 hours. We won’t take 25 hours.”

Mocking Mr. Yogi’s statements, Mr. Rajbhar asked, “When the Central Government could not do anything in five years, what will the Chief Minister do in 24 hours?”

Although the Om Prakash Rajbhar led SBSP is a part of the NDA, Mr. Rajbhar is upset with the BJP over refusing the demand made by the SBSP regarding the sub categorisation of the Other Backwards Class (OBCs) quota.

Om Prakash also threatened to walk out of the NDA if his demands are not considered. Recently, the Upendra Kushwaha led Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) quit the NDA and joined the United Progressive Alliance (UPA,) led by the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The parties will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh for 80 seats. The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held between April and May 2019. The major parties contesting are the BJP, the INC and the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP.)
