The general secretary of MDMK Vaiko, a Tamil rights campaigner was recently released on bail in 2009 sedition speech case. On Friday morning, Vaiko was denied entry into Malaysia.

Malaysian authorities charged him with being a member of rebel LTTE group and termed him dangerous for the country. The officials asked him, “you are being restricted from entering Malaysia because you belong to LTTE in Sri Lanka.”

MDMK sources said he will be sent back to India by night. Vaiko was in Malaysia to attend the wedding reception of P. Ramaswamy’s family member. The reception is scheduled for Saturday evening. Ramaswamy is the Deputy Chief Minister of the Penang State.

Vaiko, along with his assistant Arunagiri, arrived in Malaysia at around 6:30 A.M., on Friday. The Malaysian embassy in Chennai cleared his visa for the visit last week. On reaching Kuala Lumpur Airport, however, the immigration officials denied his entry and said Vaiko is on the restricted list.

The officials questioned him regarding pending cases against him in Sri Lanka, which he denied and presented his passport. The officials, however, presented him with a list of people considered dangerous to the country. This list included a large amount of Tamil population. Vaiko is being sent back by 10:45 P.M., flight.
