Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confidently predicted that he will secure a fourth consecutive term in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, despite current skepticism from political analysts. Speaking at the Global Fintech Fest, Modi asserted that the BJP’s recent performance in the 2024 elections, where it did not achieve a full majority, will not deter his party’s future success.
“This is the fifth Global Fintech Fest, and I plan to attend the 2029 edition as well,” Modi stated, reflecting on the event’s growth. He emphasized the impressive progress India has made in technology and development over the past decade, countering criticisms about rural internet and electricity access. Modi praised the cultural diversity of India, noting how foreign guests are now impressed by the country’s technological advancements rather than just its culture.
In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured an absolute majority. However, in 2024, the party fell short of the majority mark of 272 seats, leading to the formation of the NDA government with coalition partners. The next Lok Sabha elections are scheduled for April-May 2029.
