In a relief to Alt News Co-founder Mr. Mohammed Zubair, the Supreme Court granted him five-day bail.
On the 8th of July, Friday, the Top Court reviewed a bail plea filed by Mr. Mohammed Zubair, challenging the Allahabad High Court. Notably, recently, the Allahabad HC refused the plea of Mr. Mohammed Zubair, demanding to quash the first information report (FIR) filed against him in the Uttar Pradesh Hate Speech case.
Registered in, the AltNews Co-Founder posted a controversial tweet, in which the fact-checker AltNews website cofounder allegedly called three Hindu seers “Hate Mongers” and was booked by the Uttar Pradesh Police for the same. The tweet was posted in 2018 and a case against it was registered recently by the Uttar Pradesh police.
However, the Apex Court bench comprising of Justice Banerjee reviewed the bail plea and granted interim bail, with certain conditions.
Highlighting the bail conditions, Mr. Mohammed Zubair would not move out of the jurisdiction of the Delhi court, he would not post further tweets.
Meanwhile, with this, the Supreme Court listed the matter to next week.
