Narendra Modi will be meeting controversial President Donald Trump in Washington at the White House for the first time. Donald Trump invited the Prime Minister for a work dinner at the White House. A Senior Administration Official said, “The White House is very interested in making this a special visit. We’re really seeking to roll out the red carpet. In fact, the two (leaders) will have dinner, a working dinner at the White House. This will be the first dinner for a foreign dignitary at the White House under this administration. So, we think that’s very significant.”

Modi’s visit to the U.S. will also involve him meeting a number of prominent American CEOs. The Prime Minister spoke about the trip to his U.S. supporters, “I would be coming to Washington DC for a visit starting 24th June. During my visit, I would be holding talks with President Trump on ways to boost India-USA ties. On 25th I would be addressing a community program in Washington DC, where I look forward to interacting with you.”

After the U.S. visit, Narendra Modi will make his way to Netherlands where he will meet Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The Prime Minister will also meet Queen Maxima. This year marks 70 years of the Indo-Dutch diplomatic relations.

Modi said, “I look forward to meeting Prime Minister Rutte and reviewing our bilateral relations. I would be exchanging views with PM Rutte on important global issues including counter- terrorism and climate change.”
