On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with BJP leaders met top journalists at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. Modi is conducting his annual Diwali Milan programme and is expected to meet each journalist personally.
Among the BJP leaders, Amit Shah, Smriti Irani and Nirmala Sitharaman were present. BJP Chief Amit Shah kicked off the meeting with Diwali greetings to the people present.PM Modi took the stage and said it was a good day to meet journalists without “pen and paper.” Modi addressed the journalists and said, “Democracy in political parties is a subject people should know more about.”
The Prime Minister went on to praise the media for its support towards the ‘Swacchta Abhiyan’ project. “The media unanimously supported this programme and spoke in one voice in support of it. Despite reels of newspaper print and television airtime dedicated to criticism of the government, the media has wholeheartedly extended its support to this programme,” he said.
Modi ended the speech with saying, even though the media and the government do not see eye to eye they can slowly come together to work amicably.
