PM Modi's All Party Meeting Over India-China Issue Begins With 20 Participation Of 20 Parties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 19th of June, conducted an all party meeting over the India-China issue. 

The meeting witnessed participation of at least 20 parties’ presidents. 

The meeting was organised after the recent India-China clash at Galwan Valley, Eastern Ladakh. 

The virtual meeting started with a tribute to the 20 Indian soldiers killed in the violent face off with Chinese troops in East Ladakh. 

Prime Minister Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar were seen standing in silence as a mark of respect for the fallen army men.

They major topic of discussion was prime minister’s statement over the violent action of China. 

PM Modi had said India would not “compromise with its integrity and sovereignty” and will firmly defend its self respect and every inch of land. The sacrifice of Indian soldiers will not go in vain.”

He further said, “We have always worked closely with our neighbours in a cooperative and friendly manner…We never provoke anyone…Whenever the time has come, we have demonstrated our power, proving our capabilities in protecting the integrity and sovereignty of the country.”

The Indian parties like Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD,) All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were not invited for the meeting.

The Indian National Congress (INC) the Communists Party of India (Marxists) [CPI(M)] Bihu Janata Dal (BJD) the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK,) the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) the Janata Dal (United,) the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS,) the Shiv Sena and others were part of today’s meeting. 

Sitaram Yechuri, representative of CPI(M) said, “we need to resist US efforts to drag us into their alliance.”

Prem Singh Tamang, the Chief Minister of Sikkim and representative of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) said, “We have full faith in the PM. In the past too, when it comes to national security, (the)PM has taken landmark decisions.”

The all party meeting which began at 5:00 P.M.,is still going on.
