The counting of votes for the next President of India started at 11:00 A.M., after which India would get its 15th President of India.
According to sources, the voting would be counted for the two candidates, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Ms. Draupadi Murmu and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) candidate Yashwant Sinha.
The votes of Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) were kept separately for counting. Notably, the vote values of MPs and MLAs are different, according to which the counting is held.
The returning officers are conducting the vote counting at the Parliament House, on the 21st of July. Furthermore, speaking about the votes cast, 98.91% voter turnout was reported on the 18th of July, Presidential elections.
Notably, 4,796 eligible electors, including 771 MPs and 4,025 MLAs, took part in the process.
Meanwhile, as per predictions and the support extended by various parties, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Droupadi Murmu has a clear edge over opposition candidate Mr. Yashwant Sinha in this election.
If elected, Ms. Draupadi Murmu would become the first tribal woman to occupy the top constitutional post in the country.
On the other hand, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, the outgoing President of India’s term is scheduled to end on the 24th of July, whereas the new President would take over as the President of India, on the 25th of July.
