Priyanka Gandhi, the Indian National Congress (INC) leader and INC General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to visit Meerut.
Ms. Gandhi would visit Meerut and Bijnor on the 15th of February and meet the farmers of the districts.
Recently, Ms. Gandhi visited Saharanpur to attend the Kisan Mahapanchayat.
Before visiting Meerut and Bijnor, Priyanka Gandhi would also visit the farmers in Muzaffarnagar on the 13th of February.
During her visit, Ms. Gandhi is expected to participate in the Kisan Panchayat and meet the farmer families.
The Indian National Congress (INC) is supporting the protesting farmers against the three controversial farm laws.
INC leaders like Rahul Gandhi, P. Chidambaram, Priyanka Gandhi and the INC President Sonia Gandhi asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to scrap the three farm laws and also criticised the ruling Government of making farmers to suffer.
Thousands of farmers from Haryana and Punjab are staging protests against the three laws at three borders of New Delhi.
While Priyanka Gandhi would visit Meerut, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Rajasthan on the 12th of February. He would be in Rajasthan till the 13th of February.
His visit to Rajasthan is in support of farmers and to express solidarity with the protesting farmers.
Farmers across India, especially from Haryana and Punjab are demanding to revoke the three farm laws.
The three farm laws which were proposed and passed by the Central Government in September 2020 witnessed criticism and protest from farmers.
According to the farmers the three laws: Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, would take away Mandi System and Minimum Support Price (MSP) leaving them at the mercy of corporators.
