The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, through his tweets slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking about the GST on wheelchairs and typewriters he said this decision will put millions of disabled in even more hardships. Rahul, through his tweets, also demanded a rollback of the GST.
Gandhi wrote, “GST (Goods and Services Tax) on disability aids like wheelchairs and Braille typewriters, once again shows this government’s complete insensitivity towards our most vulnerable.” He further added, “Congress demands a full roll back of this ‘disability tax’ that will put millions of our disabled people through further hardship.”

Congress party accused the ruling BJP of introducing GST in a hurry and avoided the roll out function at the Central Hall of Parliament on June 30 at midnight. Amidst this Jammu and Kashmir Congress party declared that they were not against GST but the party would not allow the state losing its special status.
G. A. Mir, Jammu and Kashmir Congress Chief said, “We are not against the Goods and Services Tax, but have a problem with the way it is being implemented. The government should make it clear as to how to protect the special status of the state.” He added, “We will not allow the erosion of the state’s special position or its fiscal autonomy.”Mir also added “The PDP-BJP coalition government is confused and divided over implementation of the GST. But they tried to befool people by showing they were in consultations with all the parties and other stakeholders.”
The chief was talking to the press after the Congress Party meeting of a special session in the state before the rollout of the GST.
