On Tuesday, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray was re-elected as the party President. Once the announcement was made Thackeray attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Earlier, Gadkari attacked the navy for placing roadblocks before the development projects in Mumbai. At the Shiv Sena’s National Executive meet Thackeray said, “I was furious after hearing what Nitin Gadkari said about the navy. You want them to stay on the border but you do not have any qualms about taking credit when a surgical strike happens.”
Thackeray went on to say arrogance has crept into the leadership of this country. The Shiv Sena Chief attacked Modi and said, “People think that we have a strong leader. But we have a leader who is interested in flying kites with foreign leaders in Ahmedabad. Why are these visiting leaders taken to Gujarat and not to Kashmir or other states.”
He continued to diss PM Modi and stated, “When elections come we hear about ‘Acche Din’ but no one knows if we are going forwards or backwards. Industries are closing down there are no jobs for youngsters.” Thackeray also stated the party would contest in all the states with the agenda of Hindutva.
Shiv Sena has been a long time ally of the BJP party but the religious party has decided to go into the 2019 elections alone. Today, the leaders of Shiv Sena made the announcement in Mumbai. BJP and Shiv Sena have been the oldest partners but in the past few year, the parties have been more like frenemies.
