The remark Donald Trump, the President of the United States Of America (U.S.A.,) made about the Kashmir issue took a political turn in India.

Donald Trump, on the 22nd of July, during a press conference, claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked him to be the mediator and resolve the Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan.

Trump was with Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, when he claimed PM Modi made the offer.

Although India denied the claims of Trump and said Mr. Modi never spoke about the Kashmir issue, the matter gave a chance to the opposition parties to raise questions.

Political leaders of the Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 23rd of July, raised the matter during the ongoing session of the Lok Sabha and sought answers for the same from Mr. Modi.

The INC leaders, who were not satisfied with the answer of the External Affairs Ministry and other BJP leaders, asked PM Modi to answer.

S. Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs in India, denied the claims and said, “I would like to categorically assure the House that no such request has been made by the Prime Minister to the US President. I repeat, no such request was made by the Prime Minister to the U.S., President.”

As of now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not react to the claims made by Donald Trump.

Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC, said, “President Trump says PM Modi asked him to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir! If true, PM Modi has betrayed India’s interests and the 1972 Shimla Agreement.”

Gandhi further added, “A weak Foreign Ministry denial won’t do. The PM must tell the Nation what transpired in the meeting between him and U.S. President.”

The INC, during the session, shouted slogans like ‘Pradhanmantri jawab do (Prime Minister answer.)’

Priyanka Gandhi, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Besides, Larry Kudlow, one of the advisors of Donald Trump, on the 23rd of July, addressed the media at the White House and defended Trump.

When a journalist asked if Trump made up things, Larry said it is “a very rude question.” He further added, “The President doesn’t make things up.”

According to the claim, Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the Kashmir issue during the G20 Summit, which was held in Osaka, Japan.
