An incident that occurred during the stampede in Mumbai makes you wonder if humanity is dead. A woman who was stuck on the Elphinstone bridge and gasping her last breath was molested by a man standing on the other side of the bridge.
A video clip that is raising havoc on social media shows a man rubbing his hand against a dying woman who is reaching out for help.
Jayshree Kanade one of the survivors said, “Many people stole purses and gold ornaments from women victims. This molestation video is really shameful. How can someone molest a girl fighting for life and asking for help? The culprits should be punished.”
Government Railway Police Commissioner, Niket Kaushik was quoted saying, “This case comes under Mumbai Police, but I will also initiate an inquiry.”
The police are taking action after a number of videos and pictures were circulated on social media of unidentified men stealing ornaments from the dead bodies.
On Sunday, Dadar’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sunil Deshmukh said, “Acting on the visuals which were circulated on social media, we have initiated investigation in the ornament theft case.”
The death toll of the stampede went up to 23 after one more person succumbed to injuries at KEM Hospital.
