Situation along the Line of Control continues to deteriorate as the Pakistani troops violated ceasefire yet again at Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector.

The firing resulted in the death of a 10 year old boy and five other people were injured. The boy was identified as Israr Ahmad.

At around 6:30 A.M., the heavy shelling began from Pakistan along the LoC at Kerni. Officers have reported that the Indian soldiers are retaliating “strong and effectively” and the firing is still underway. The injured were immediately rushed to hospital.

A senior officer reported, “Pakistani forces started unprovoked shelling and firing at Indian positions and the military is befittingly responding.” He further added that the Pakistani troops were attacking villages in Kerni, Shahpur and Qasba sectors.

The recent ceasefires have been continuous from Pakistani troops. Thousands of civilians living alongside the LoC are fleeing to safer locations as the Pakistani troops are targeting civilian villages more that Indian troop camp sites.
