On Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath Yogi expressed that he came to know about BJP’s decision of appointing him as the CM just one day before swearing in. The CM had said that he was surprised when asked to come back to UP immediately so as to swear in on March 19.
The CM addressing the Yog Mahotsav 2017, which was organised by the Ramdev’s Patanjali Yog Mission said, “BJP president Amit Shah told me that I have to rush to UP. I told him that I have come from UP just now.” He added, “It was only then Shah revealed that I have to take the pledge as UP CM the following day.” The CM also said that he was confused as he was carrying only one pair of clothes with him. He said, “If I had rejected the proposal, I would have been seen as running away from (the) responsibility. So I agreed. If a yogi wears even a loin cloth and strolls on the streets, he would be seen as one who is used to it.”
Yogi said, “I know UP well. I have traveled from the streets of UP to Parliament and asked for bhiksha in temples and maths. I am aware of the diseases plaguing UP.” The CM also added that he knew that the state will follow the path shown and led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has learned to stay positive during criticism from the Prime Minister.
