In another clash between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) on the 21st of July, 5 people were injured.
The incident took place around 10:00 P.M., on the 21st of July, in Behala, West Bengal.
On the 22nd of July, the Behal Police Station reported the incident and said the fight between the BJP and the TMC supporters started over a blood donation camp.
Dipankar Banik, a member of the BJP in Behala, organised a blood camp in his capacity. He alleged the TMC supporters attacked him at the camp and started a fight with the BJP supporters.
According to sources, after two TMC members were attacked, the Party supporters staged a protest and blocked Roy Bahadur Road at night, on the 21st of July.
However, after two hours, the members withdrew the protest after Tarak Singh, the Councillor and MMIC (Sewerage and Drainage) of TMC, intervened in the protest.
Tarak Singh said, “I have heard there was a clash but I have no clue about who were involved in the incident. A few of our men have been attacked.” He further asked for police protection and strict action against the culprits.
Tarak addressed the media and said, “We have requested the police to take proper action against the culprits, who are trying to disturb peace in this area.”
On the other hand, Dipankar Banik held the TMC supporters responsible for the clash and requested the Behala Police to take action against the attackers. He said, “We want immediate action against those involved in the attack.”
The Police are investigating the matter and arranged for tight security in the area.
