In a major boost to the Indian Cricket Team, Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are likely to make their comeback.
The two players who were ruled out from major games in the past few months would come with a bang for the Asia Cup 2023. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah sustained serious back injury due to which he missed the Men’s Twenty 20 (T20) World Cup, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and the recently concluded World Test Championship (WTC) 2023.
Similarly, Shreyas Iyer too decided to go for back surgery for his lower-back injury in April 2023. He also missed out on playing the final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in March in Ahmedabad. He then underwent surgery in London in May. He was suggested to take a rest and focus on completing his rehab.
However, now both the players are ready to come back and play cricket. Upcoming Asia Cup 2023 in the One Day International (ODI) format is the best time for the Indian players to join their squad. Furthermore, even medical officers of NCA are hopeful that both players will be fit to take part in the Asia Cup in September.
The Asia Cup would begin from the 31st of August to the 17th of September. A total of 13 ODI matches would be played in the Hybrid model in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal would be locking horns in the field.
