Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the two Telugu speaking states on Wednesday have come together into a inter state reciprocal pact on the transport system. both the States’ road ministers and officials and the representatives of TSRTC and APSRTC were present at the meeting where this pact was finalized.
P. Mahendar Reddy, the Telangana transport minister and his counterpart Kinjarapu Atchannaidu of Andhra Pradesh, M. Malakondaiah the vice chairman of APSRTC, G.V. Ramana Rao, the TSRTC managing director, N. Balasubramanyam the AP transport commissioner participated in the meeting. They discussed various issues in regard to the inter state goods transport, public transport and also tourism.
Both states officials have come together to agree this pact will enable transport department to have a counter signature permit for goods and transport vehicles. It will also resolve pending issues that have remained post bifurcation in both the states. This includes sharing APSRTC assets, inter state taxes and also transfer of employees in the road transportation department under monitoring.
This meeting is expected to have a finalised shape after another meeting at the end of May.
