The Telangana Police took an initiative reagrding keeping a health data of the department. The decision to do so came due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
There are 60,000 police personnel in the Telangana Police department, whose helath profile would be maintained. The exercise was started in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus with a purpose of their safety, especially when 4 police officers from the department were tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the sources, the department would create a detailed database on the health status of all the personnel at all levels in the State police department.
The data would be collected with the help of a link, with health related questions. It would include details of blood pressure, diabetes and a list of other health issues, which everyone needs to fill with a ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ It would also collect the time span the personnel has been suffering from the particular illness.
The collected details would be shared with Arogya Bhadratha, one of the welfare wings of the police department to ensure a medical reimbursement scheme to the staff.
This would help the Telangana police department to understand the medical issues of every personnel and deploy work to them accordingly. In addition, the State police also issued a circulation to the Commissioners of Police (CP) and the Superintendents of Police (SP) of different districts to allow official work instead of field work to the officers above 50 years.
As of now, the Telangana police department collected the health data from 25,000 personnel, the remaining 35,000 personnel’s data would be collected within a week.
Meanwhile, Telangana reported a total of 1,044 cases of the Novel Coronavirus with 28 fatalities till date.
