A day after the micro blogging site Twitter lost the safe harbor immunity in India, two cases were filed against Twitter.
On the 17th of June, a second case against Twitter for posting inappropriate content was registered in Hyderabad.
The first case was registered in Uttar Pradesh in the Ghaziabad Muslim man assualt incident. The Ghaziabad police have registered a case against Twitter officials for not removing misleading and inaccurate information regarding the incident. The case has been registered under sections 153, 153A, 295A, 505,120B, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)
In Hyderabad, the Cyberabad Police registered a case against Twitter for circulating a video, humiliating police. Tollywood actress Meera Chopra filed a complaint based on which the Cyberabad Police registered a case and issued notices to Twitter officials. In the notice, it has been mentioned that Twitter would be held responsible for the inappropriate comments on the fake video
In addition, the police asked Twitter officials to respond immediately to the complaint. Along with the notice, the Twitter officials were also asked to give the details of the individual who posted the video, which showcased a few scenes humiliating the police.
Twitter officials are yet to respond.
