The holy month of Ramadan started from the 14th of April in India amid the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases. 

As India is witnessing a surge of COVID-19 cases, mosque managements in Hyderabad are strictly following the COVID-19 norms, during Ramadan. In the wake of people’s visit to Makkah Masjid of Hyderabad, the authorities decided to impose strict guidelines and rules for early morning prayer at masjid.

Speaking to the media, Haafiz Mohammad Haneef, the Muezzin (the person who calls Muslims to offer the prayer) of Makkah Masjid, said, “We are regularly making announcements through loudspeakers, to the people who visit masjid to offer their prayers regarding all the guidelines that are to be strictly followed by everyone.”

Haafiz Mohammad Haneef further said the visitors at the mosque are strictly abiding by the guidelines of COVID-19 norms while offering prayers during Ramadan. He said, “We also tell the people not to come in contact with each other, as that might lead to the spread of the virus.”

Speaking about the arrangements, they said sanitisers have been placed inside the premises of the mosque and people are instructed to sanitize themselves before entering the masjid and after leaving.

Haafiz Mohammad Haneef said, “Till the date, they have received no instruction the count of people that are to be allowed into the masjid, so, for now, we are allowing everyone who wants to come without restricting, but we instruct them to follow all the required guidelines of COVID-19.”

A visitor at Mosque Shoaib said, “All the required arrangements have been made by the Masjid Management to make sure that all the Covid-19 guidelines are strictly followed by the people to enter here. Masks have been made compulsory and social distancing is being implemented. Further, sanitisers have been put in place inside the masjid and we are constantly being instructed to follow all the Covid-19 norms.”

The holy month of Ramadan would continue till a month. This year, due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, gatherings and other crowd oriented markets are banned.

Meanwhile, Telangana has 3,07,499 recovered/discharged cases, 25,459 are active cases and 1,780 deceased cases.

Telangana’s recovery rate also fell down to 91.86 % and fatality rate is at 0.53 %.
