Hyderabad: Jishnudev Verma was officially sworn in as the new Governor of Telangana in a ceremony at Raj Bhavan. The oath was administered by Chief Justice of the High Court, Justice Alok Aradhe. The event was attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, state ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and other dignitaries.
Born on August 15, 1957, Jishnudev Verma has had a distinguished career. He served as the second Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura from 2018 to 2023 and was also the President of the Badminton Association of India. A member of the Tripura royal family, Verma joined the BJP in 1990 during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
In a notable exchange, Telangana BJP leader Indrasena Reddy has been appointed as the Governor of Tripura, while Verma, originally from Tripura, takes on the governorship of Telangana. This swap highlights the party’s strategic placements in key states.
