KCR Announces 30 % Fitment For Government Employees In Budget Assembly

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced a fitment of 30 % for government staff. 

On the 22nd of March, during the ongoing Assembly Budget session, the Telangana Government announced hike in salaries for government employees. Mr. Rao said, “The employees had played a key role during the Telangana movement and the employees from all the departments will be eligible for PRC (Pay Revision Commission.)

The decision was taken as per the recommendations of a committee headed by C.R. Biswal, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer. Though the committee recommended 7.5% fitment, the State Government increased it to 30 % fitment.

The Telangana Government last revised the pay scales in 2014 where the Government announced 43 % fitment after the formation of the state.

In addition, KCR also assured to fill vacancies in government jobs, which would arise after promotions. The Government also said, so far 80 % promotions have been done. KCR said, “Later, the inter-district promotions will be done.”

Besides this, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government increased the retirement age from existing 58 years to 61 years and decreased the age of pensioners from 75 years to 70 years. The announced proposal would be implemented from the next financial year the 30th of April 2021.

The implemented scheme would be applicable to contract employees, out sourcing employees, home guards, village revenue assistants, grant in aid employees, Sarwa Shiksha Abhiyan employees, worked charged, daily wage workers, anganwadi workers, Asha workers and vidya volunteers.
